Billing Policies. We do not require payment of retainer fees in advance. Instead, our office generally charges on an hourly basis for all time expended on behalf of our clients.
We bill monthly and expect payment within 10 days from the date you receive our statement. If payment is not made when due and the delinquency extends to 30 days after the initial billing date, a late charge of 1.5% per month is assessed on the balance which is more than 30 days past due. Our fee is not contingent on the outcome.
Our hourly rate for lawyers is currently $295 per hour. Our current rate for legal assistants is $130 per hour. These rates are subject to change at any time without prior notice.
Our monthly bills will be itemized. We bill for time expended on your behalf from initial consultation to closing of the matter. Activities requiring the expenditure of time may include office conferences, telephone discussions, preparation and review of correspondence, document preparation and review, and any other reasonable tasks associated with the work we have undertaken on your behalf.
In addition to the hourly fees of attorneys and legal assistants, you will also be billed for only the actual costs and expenses incurred by the office in connection with long distance telephone charges, large photocopying expenses, filing fees, travel and other out of-pocket expenses. We do not mark-up these expenses.
If an invoice remains unpaid 45 days after you receive the bill, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate service.
If you have a question at any time regarding your billing statement, please contact Stephanie Harris or Alan Thayer.
Fee Schedule. We are willing to bill for certain routine services on a flat fee basis. Click on this link to download our current flat fee schedule.
Guarantee. There is no charge for our services if you are not satisfied.
The attorney-client relationship is a unique and important relationship. You must have trust and confidence in 1) your attorney, 2) your attorney’s judgment and 3) the advice you receive. If you are not satisfied, then you need to find counsel in who’s judgment you do have trust and confidence.
Should you ever become dissatisfied, let us know within 10 days of receiving a bill. We will write off the fees for the current services described on the bill and forward your files as you direct. Otherwise, after the passage of 10 days, you are agreeing to pay the amount detailed on the statement.
